Bible Salvation
If you want to know how to be saved for eternity, there's really only one authoritative source of information. It's the Bible.
Scripture itself claims to be authoritative and comprehensive in proclaiming how one can be saved. When the apostle Paul wrote to the young preacher Timothy, he made this clear:
"But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (II Timothy 3:14-16)
"How Can I Be Saved?"
You can get many inconsistent answers when you ask how to be saved. But we believe the Bible answer to this question is easily accessible. It's worth taking the trouble to look at everything the Bible says about salvation and arrive at God's complete answer. That's what we will do on this site. We will try to accept everything the Bible says and put it into proper context.
Where Do I Start?
The links below go to pages showing passages from the books of the New Testament that have something to say about how a person is saved.
These verses cover the following:
What God has done to make human salvation possible.
Specific conditions people must fulfill to share in that salvation when they learn about it.
The kind of lifestyle or behavior that must accompany this salvation if one is to remain saved.
Warnings about losing salvation by depending on works.
Warnings about allowing this salvation to slip away through unfaithfulness.
Because all of the biblical passages provided here are God's word, each offering some insight on the subject of salvation, we think they should be interpreted to harmonize and thereby increase our understanding of salvation in Christ. Note: The conclusion that each of these passages relates to salvation is sometimes interpretive in itself. If you doubt that salvation is the intended subject, look at the internal evidence (within the passage), the context of the passage, and the entire context of all the Bible passages.
If you have suggestions on passages to be included, or comments, please write to us at george@vitalconcern.com.
Right now, these passages are organized by the book of the New Testament in which they are found. (We hope to add Old Testament passages as time allows.) It will take some work to read through all of these. But if you study carefully, it will be well worth the effort to learn about the gift of eternal life.
