2 Timothy 1

8So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, 9who has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, 10but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. 11And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher.

2 Timothy 1

16May the Lord show mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains. 17On the contrary, when he was in Rome, he searched hard for me until he found me. 18May the Lord grant that he will find mercy from the Lord on that day! You know very well in how many ways he helped me in Ephesus.

2 Timothy 2

1You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. 3Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs—he wants to please his commanding officer. 5Similarly, if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victor's crown unless he competes according to the rules. 6The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. 7Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this.

8Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, 9for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God's word is not chained. 10Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

11Here is a trustworthy saying:

If we died with him,

we will also live with him;

12if we endure,

we will also reign with him.

If we disown him,

he will also disown us;

13if we are faithless,

he will remain faithful,

for he cannot disown himself.

2 Timothy 2

24And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to

everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 25Those who oppose him he must

gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading

them to a knowledge of the truth, 26and that they will come to their senses

and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his

will.

2 Timothy 3

1But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2People will

be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive,

disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3without love,

unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the

good, 4treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers

of God— 5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to

do with them.

6They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over

weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds

of evil desires, 7always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth.

8Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the

truth—men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are

rejected. 9But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those

men, their folly will be clear to everyone.

2 Timothy 3

14But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become

convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15and how

from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you

wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16All Scripture is God-

breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in

righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every

good work.

2 Timothy 4

6For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has

come for my departure. 7I have fought the good fight, I have finished the

race, I have kept the faith. 8Now there is in store for me the crown of

righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that

day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

2 Timothy 4

18The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to

his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
